[HTML][HTML] Immunologic self tolerance maintained by T-cell-mediated control of self-reactive T cells: implications for autoimmunity and tumor immunity

T-cell-mediated dominant control of self-reactive T cells is one mechanism for maintaining
immunologic self tolerance. It also hampers the generation of immunity to autologous tumor
cells. Abrogation of the control can evoke potent tumor immunity as well as autoimmunity in
normal animals. This common regulatory mechanism for autoimmunity and tumor immunity
can be exploited to devise a novel immunotherapy against cancer.
