Functional deficiency or absence of the human von Willebrand factor (VWF)‐cleaving
protease (VWF‐cp), recently termed ADAMTS13, has been shown to cause acquired and
congenital thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura (TTP), respectively. As a first step towards
