Mice homozygous for a deletion in the gene encoding prohormone convertase 2 (PC2) are
generally healthy but have mild hypoglycemia and flat glucose-tolerance curves. Their islets
show marked alpha (A)-cell hyperplasia, suggesting a possible defect in glucagon
